A definition of micromanaging yields the following definition: “Control every part, however small.”
Some indications that micromanaging may be underway include observing someone who:
Manages a team with a high turnover rate and/or very low morale.
Must review or control all information flowing into or out of a team.
Tries to consistently avoid or go around their manager.
Regularly speaks negatively about other people’s deliverables.
In the next couple posts, we’ll offer suggestions for those who are feel they are being micromanaged as well as for those who may be a micromanager.
