Recently a couple coworkers relayed a conversation about project delivery where they were stuck because one person had confidence that the project would be delivered on time and to stated goals. The other person said they did not have confidence that it would. The conversation went in circles.
Pausing to define what confidence means to each person and what has been done to confirm that confidence opens the door to a whole new discussion.
Oftentimes, pausing in the midst of a heated discussion is more challenging that asking the question.
